As I sit at my desk writing, the front door is wide open only a couple of feet away from me. I have the glass down and the screen up on the storm door so I can get some fresh air in the house since it's been raining a lot for a few weeks now and is now so damp and mucky.
It is very windy outside today.
Have you ever noticed that even if you are completely alone, when there is a lot of wind, you never feel alone? If you close your eyes and just relax, when the wind blows, it feels like someone running by you or someone's hair brushing across your skin or sometimes like someone is lightly caressing your face with their lips.
If you listen really closely, tone out the lawnmowers running in the distance, the church bells from a few blocks down, the cars going by, and the neighbors dogs barking. Tone all of that out and just listen to the wind. It sounds like a low but kind of high pitched whistle, right? Now, listen to that even closer. Sometimes it sounds like a whisper or a song. Maybe moaning or crying.
It is like there are thousands of helpless souls stuck here on earth after death and they are floating past us in the wind. Some of them crying because they just want to go home, some of them moaning because they are in pain, some of them singing to ease the pain.
I cannot be the only person to have noticed this, right? Don't get me wrong, I do not think it is scary, however, it is eerie. All of these faces pass you by in a breeze. You can't see them but your can feel them.
When the wind blows, we are NOT alone.
