"Where am I?" I asked the devil that stood before me. I looked at the stormy place behind him mainly because looking at him was terrifying. His flesh was cracked and scaly, his eyes were set deep into his scull so it was like you were staring into two black holes, he had two horns on the top of his head, a long horse tail behind him, and he had pig feet.
"Where do you think we are?" He hissed in my ear which made chills run through my body. I closed my eyes tight hoping that he would be gone when I open them. With my eyes still closed I knew he got closer. I felt his warm breath against my ear as he whispered again, "Where. Do you. Think. We are?"
I opened my eyes and stared at the scene in front of me. With the devil along side of me I finally had a clear picture of what was behind him. It was an approaching storm.
It was beautiful.
The dark thick clouds rolled across the sky at a rapid speed. Lightening bounced off the ground and thunder roared loudly. I stared for a long time but the rain never came. "I don't know." I whispered. I looked to my side and my breath got caught in my throat. A handsome man stood there with eyes the color of the clouds above me, with a smile as sweet as a child's laughter, he was tall, muscular, and well dressed. His voice sounded like a song when he whispered naughty possibilities in my ear. My legs felt like jelly and lightening from the storm ran up my spine. I couldn't believe how much I wanted him right now. I wanted the devil. That thought shocked me and I screamed aloud causing me to see his real identity like I had originally. "What do you want with me?" I felt my stomach contract when his cold hand grabbed my arm. In a blink of an eye we were in the middle of the street. A car was aiming straight for us and showed no signs of stopping. I found myself screaming again but the car speed right through us. I looked at the devil who stood beside with me with a cocky grin on his face. He raised his arm and pointed to something behind me. I turned slowly and gasp.
It was me.
I was lying on the side of the road with a crowd of people around me. I stared down at the puddle of blood under my head and the blood stains on my light pink t-shirt. There was a car parked only a few feet away with a dented hood and cracked windshield. I took in the faces of the people knelt next to my body. My boyfriend, Ron, my best friends, Melissa, Slim and Spike. Ron was talking very fast on his cellphone with the police while the rest of them kept calling my name and asking me to wake up. "She's not breathing!" Slim screamed as tears started to fall down her face.
I spun around on my heels and glared at the devil who didn't seemed fazed at all. "I'm dead?" I nearly shrieked but my voice caught in my throat so it came out sounding like a squeak.
"Look again at your friends." He pointed at them again. I raised my eyebrows but didn't turn around. "Go on." He urged.
I sighed and turned back around at the people who meant everything to me. I smiled at them and didn't bother to wipe the tears away from my eyes. I was here with them but I missed them terribly already.
But something wasn't right.
I blinked and rubbed my eyes but it didn't help. The people in front of me were going blurry. "What-?"I stopped. I was shocked. It was as if I was seeing what was inside each of them. Demons. They were all demons. Smiling and laughing as my dead body laid before them. These people were my friends. They were all I had. The one's I loved most. And all along they hated me. All along they were working against me. They were evil demons!
"Look at who you surrounded yourself with." The devil whispered in my ear. "You stayed close to me this whole time by staying close to them. Remember? Remember when you pushed everyone else away so you could be with your new 'friends'? Everyone who loved you truly and wanted what was best for you, you kicked to the curb. You're just as bad as one of my demons."
"Then why am I still here?" I asked through gritted teeth. I could here the venom in my voice. It didn't even sound like me. "If I am such a terrible person why am I not in Hell right now?" I turned to look into his empty cold eyes.
"Don't you understand yet?" His smile grew wider as he turned me by the shoulders slowly. I saw people on the streets, going into stores, driving their cars. However, I didn't see people anymore. I saw demons everywhere. Thousands of them. "Hell is empty. All my demons are here."
