In a land, hidden in the mist far from your own, lived a small fallen angel. She wasn't evil, she wasn't proud, she didn't get angry a lot. No, she was fallen because of a broken heart and broken wings.
She hid herself away from others in the dark land. She wandered around and in her hands she held her shattered heart.
One day the fallen little angel was sitting on a rock in the lake. She loved the feel of the cool October water on her bare feet and she loved looking into the dark ripples that danced around her ankles. However, that day she saw something strange in the water. A reflection. Dark blue bloodshot eyes stared into her own. Large red lips formed a frown. Freckles dotted across the face. The reflection frightened the angel until she realized it was her own. She had forgotten what she looked liked. She looked older then she remembered. She stared at the reflection for a long time and the longer the time went by the longer she started to remembered why she hated mirrors. The angel started to cry.
She tried to fly away from it by she fell face down into the lake. She quickly got up and looked into her hands to be sure she didn't lose any of the pieces. When she looked up that is when she saw it.
Or rather, she saw him. A great bright light stood before her. His eyes were dark and majestic, his smiled was strained, yet, light radiated from him like the sun. "Are you lost?" The angel asked quietly but the sad light seemed afraid to answer. "Are you okay? I can try to help you. If you want."
He raised one eyebrow and took two cautious steps forward. "Why are you offering me your help when you are in so much need of saving yourself?" His voice was nothing like she ever heard before. It was like a song getting whispered into her ears alone. "I'm not lost. I'm hiding."
The angel and the light had something in common already. "Why?" She questioned and started to walk closer but the he held up his hand for her to stop.
"Please. Don't. People don't like to get close to me because they are afraid they will get burned." A signal tear rolled down his cheek which sizzled away from the heat of all the light. The angel cried for him all the tears she had left.
"Can I help?" She asked in the mist of her silent sobs.
He smiled and shook his head. "No thank you. But your offer is most generous."
The small fallen angel and bright sunlight walked together through the heavy fog. They didn't speak. Only enjoyed each other's company."What is in your hands?" He said after a while of beautiful silence.
"It's my heart. It's broken. I have tried to put it back together but keeps falling apart." She looked up at him with sad eyes. "Can you fix it?"
"I might burn it." His voice trembled with fear for this poor angels heart. "Then all that will be left are ashes. Aren't you scared that you might never get it back?"
"No. I trust you." So with that the small fallen angel dumped the broken pieces of her heart into the sad light's hands. Her heart didn't burn. It didn't turn to ash. No, the light from his hands sealed the broken pieces together and the love he stowed away he used to fill it. He took the precious restored heart and touched it to her chest and when he did her wings opened wide and were healed. When he looked at her face she was already smiling up at him. "I always knew you would came and save me." She covered his hand that was on her chest with her hand. "Now I will save you." She took his other hand and led him into the cool waters of the lake. "Go under the water and then you will be okay."
"Will you hold me?" He asked the smiling little angel.
"Won't you be be scared that I will drop you?" She looked worried for him. What if you hurt the person who just healed her?
"No, I trust you." So with that the smiling angel and the light held each other in a tight embrace and immersed themselves into the water. When they emerged there was no longer light radiating from his body and she was still smiling up at him. "Why are you smiling?"
She touched cool damp cheek. "Because you are still shining so bright in my eyes, Sunshine."
He took hold of her soft wet hand. "Thank you for looking out for me, Guardian Angel."
